Cannabis Sommelier

Tim Dresemann is an agricultural biologist, certified Ganjier, and Cannabis Sommelier at the Berlin-based Sanity Group, the company behind the brands avaay Medical and ZOIKS. His job: to track down the world's best cannabis genetics and bring them to the German medical cannabis market.

With over 70 cultivation facilities visited on several continents, Tim is one of Europe's most experienced strain scouts. He inspects cultivation methods, evaluates terpene profiles, and ensures that only strains of the highest pharmaceutical quality make their way into German pharmacies.

On his YouTube channel Toking Tim, he takes his community behind the scenes: from GMP-certified facilities in Canada to indoor farms in Switzerland and emerging markets in Thailand. He explains what really matters in professional cannabis sourcing.

Screening & Network

It all begins at the Sanity Group's Berlin office. Tim and his team scout for potential cultivation facilities worldwide. Through a network built over years in the cannabis scene, Tim receives tips on promising growers and new genetics. A first video call checks: Is the quality right? Is there a good personal fit?

On-site Visit

If the first impression is positive, Tim travels personally to the facility. He inspects cultivation methods, hygiene, GMP standards, and the final product. There are always surprises: sometimes he finds true treasures, sometimes it turns out that the alleged facility doesn't even exist.

Sensory Evaluation

As a trained Ganjier, Tim evaluates each strain according to a structured protocol: appearance, trichome density, terpene profile, moisture, structure. He compares it with his experience from hundreds of evaluated strains and looks for what's special.

Import & Quality Assurance

If a strain meets all criteria, the import process begins: pharmaceutical certification, laboratory analyses, EU-GMP testing. Only when everything is correct does the strain land in German pharmacies under the brands avaay Medical or ZOIKS.
